Fourier Transform

Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) is a method of filtering in the frequency domain. FFT is used for removal of high frequency components of periodic noise. In forensics it's usually used for:

• Separating or removing periodical patterns.
• Analyzing and enhancing certain periodical patterns.

This can be very useful in analyzing fingerprints, paper sieve patterns etc.
